While you are using modern technology such as computers, email, there are many children unable to read a word in the newspapers thrown on the street!

You have a family, or at least a room to go home to at the end of the day...many children have no idea where they'll be sleeping tonight!

While you are shopping at the supermarket, buying new clothes or planning a trip far from the city, many children are searching through garbage cans for waste food to fill their empty stomachs!

While you are striving for a bright future, many children have no idea what their future holds.

In spite of their own difficulties in life however, there are many kind-hearted people in the world who choose to help the unhappy and less-fortunate children of Saigon/ Vietnam. This takes many forms such as fundraising and charity programmes and has a real impact in lessening their hardships and making a real difference in these kids lives.

Recently, with the aim of helping the community, a group of TLS hairdressing students participated in a meaningful trip to Nha Trang city. The trip, from the 24th to 26th April 2009 was organised by Viet Horizon Club and Vinagame Company and entitled "Extending Open Arms" The group travelled through the Dien Khanh district and offered free hair cuts to disabled kids, orphans and wanderers in the area.

Apart from the above-mentioned humanitarian meaning behind the trip, it was also a useful activity in providing the students of TLS (who are also from the lowest class of society), with the opportunity of practicing and enhancing their job skills. Thus, we look forward with anticipation, to the day when they leave school, obtain employment and start working towards a better future!
